CycloFemme is a Global Women’s Cycling Day created TO HONOR THE PAST and the emancipation of our grandmothers and great-grandmothers, for the freedom to choose and the chance to wear trousers. TO CELEBRATE THE PRESENT and the riders who keep it rolling, bringing women’s racing to the forefront, pushing the limits, breaking down barriers and sharing the love of the bike with everyone along the way. TO EMPOWER THE FUTURE of women in cycling and the opportunity for positive social change.
WHEN AND WHERE?
Meet @ The Velo Cafe, Brighton from 9.00am onwards for coffee, for a 9.30am roll out.
This ride is suitable for ALL LEVELS AND AGES as it will be split in to two routes. Under 16s need to be accompanied by an adult who is a confident cyclist, please.
The ride is totally inclusive and as such is open to anyone who identifies as a woman or a girl, dads are very welcome to accompany their daughters. Basically, if you want to support women riding bikes and are happy to let them take the lead, then you are welcome.
Those wanting to do a shorter, easier ride will turn around at Carats Cafe on the seafront, and the rest of the group will continue to do a sociable paced 35 mile loop via Steyning and Devil’s Dyke ending back at Velo. No one gets left behind on this ride, it’s not a club run or a race.
The shorter ride is suitable for any kind of bike, it’s completely flat, and is almost entirely on cycle paths. The longer route is suited to road bikes and has some climbing.
Please bring: water, a snack, puncture repair stuff (pump, spare tube, tyre levers), some pennies for a tea stop. If you don’t know how to mend a puncture, someone else will be able to help you.
Every woman and girl who joins the ride gets a goody bag with some amazing freebies from Cyclofemme, Liv Giant and Velo Cafe worth quite a bit of dosh. Don’t say I don’t spoil you!
